A Message from the Alliance Chair

Dear Friends and Members of the Alliance for Community Media:

As you have read yesterday, the Alliance Board of Directors has several new members and officers and I want to express how tremendously humbling it is for me personally to serve as your new chair.

I am continually amazed at the dedication of the board of directors and the many individuals who serve in leadership positions on committees and in working groups.  We are immensely fortunate to have a thoughtful, diverse and hard working team committed to the mission of our Alliance and to the preservation of community media.  We are also most fortunate to have an Executive Director with significant experience, insight and enthusiasm for our cause.

It is my fervent desire to work not only with this leadership team, but to welcome and challenge each of you to do just one thing this year to preserve this great organization and community media as a whole.

What can you do:

• Join a committee or working group.
• Donate! Any amount is appreciated!
• Become a member of the Alliance for Community Media.
• If you are a member, bring in one new member, or two, or five....
• Support the Community Preservation Act (CAP).  Send in a letter or encourage others to send in letters by going to www.alliancecm.org and clicking on SUPPORT CAP.
• Attend our annual conference next July in Pittsburgh, PA.

What will your "one thing" be?  What are your ideas for the future?  Please let us know, we want to hear from you.

My congratulations to our new officers Keri Stokstad, Todd Thayer and  Karla Saldaña and sincere gratitude to all of our board members for their efforts.

Our organization has a great deal to be thankful for this year and I hope you will all join me in recognizing and thanking our outgoing chair Matt Schuster for his extraordinary dedication and service these past two years, as well as recognize Keali'i Lopez for her calm and thoughtful work as vice chair, Chad Johnston for his diligent efforts as secretary and Mike Wassenaar for his assiduous work as treasurer.

Our new officers have big shoes to fill.  You have entrusted this organization to our stewardship and we will aspire to lead honorably and always give our best.  We look forward to the coming year and to working together to strengthen our organization and realize our goals.
